A Whole Home Remodel Journey

The Vision

A whole home remodel, room by room, that aligns with new needs and styles.

At Meadowlark Design+Build, we love fostering meaningful relationships with our clients. It brings us so much joy when we collaborate with them on multiple projects to bring their dream home to life.

This family embarked on a remarkable journey with Meadowlark Design+Build, undertaking four distinct projects over the years that transformed their home into a harmonious blend of functionality, elegance, and modern style.

We first met the homeowners in 2017 when they wanted to upgrade their kitchen. They desired a "gourmet" kitchen that harmonized with their home's classic style, focusing on functionality and elegance.

Following that project, Meadowlark remodeled a family bathroom in 2018. The vision was to replace an unused bathtub with a shower, enhance the use of natural light, and update the sink.

Next came the powder room and entryway revamp in 2021. This family wanted their home to be somewhere they were proud of from the moment they stepped in the door, and our team was up for the job.

Our most recent project in 2023 was a primary suite bathroom renovation. While we were onsite, we extended the project to also replace the original, drafty, and inefficient living room windows and repaired some ceiling damage in that room.

Each project offered a unique opportunity for our team to take this family’s home to the next level. From the initial kitchen upgrade to the recent primary suite and living room renovations, we witnessed their home evolve into a space that not only meets their practical needs but also resonates with their style and personality. Let’s dive in!

Project Goals

Update rooms to expand space, enhance efficiency, and improve overall style.

Project Challenges

Crafting unique ways to make all our client's wishes come true.

As with any whole-home remodel, our team encountered some challenges while working on these projects.

Balancing natural light, privacy, and exterior appearance in the family bathroom presented design and logistical complexities. Moving the window in the bathroom was non-negotiable, as it was needed for natural light. However, it was the ideal location for a shower in this smaller space, so designing a way for it to exist, not be seen from the outside, and not get wet was needed.

The frosted Euro-door, the small frameless glass door over the window, allows natural light into the bathroom while giving plenty of privacy.

The primary bathroom and living room remodel project required addressing a leak and updating the living room windows to look original in style.

In the kitchen, we maximized storage for food and pantry items with a hidden pull-out cabinet to the left of the fridge. This space was a welcome addition, and the space was taken from the large and underutilized front-hall closet, which still has plenty of space.

A sweet breakfast nook remained but a wall was removed to open up and enlarge the kitchen. While the homeowners have a formal dining room, the bench seating and small table allow for casual meals or morning coffee. The bench includes drawers below for extra storage.

The clients always stayed dedicated to their vision, entrusting our team at Meadowlark Design+Build to expertly navigate the intricacies of each project. As a result, we transformed obstacles into possibilities and created the home of their dreams.

As you can see, when you choose to work with a professional design-build company like Meadowlark, the in-house design team can determine things you may not have considered for the remodel, such as rearranging the space creatively to maximize functionality and efficiency.
