We won the 39th annual National GOLD Master Design Award by Qualified Remodeler Magazine in partnership with our talented friends at Ply Architecture and Design. We submitted one of our favorite projects called "A Secluded Retreat" to win the award for remodeling additions costing less than $250K.
Architect: PLY Architecture
Project name: A Secluded Retreat
Project location: Dexter, Mich.
Square footage before: 3,456
Square footage after: 3,531
Project cost: $217,000
The homeowners wanted to open up the first floor of their contemporary Dexter home while expanding the views to a pond and old growth trees on their property. This Meadowlark-built remodel was designed by PLY Architecture to take full advantage of the surrounding landscape. A custom corner window provides dramatic views from the entryway of the home towards the outside and from the outside into the home.
To make the living area more comfortable and energy-efficient, Meadowlark incorporated Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) by Insulspan into construction of the 75 square foot addition. In addition, the new wood-burning fireplace circulates pre-heated air through the room and returns it to the furnace through a cold air return. The custom concrete hearth surround provides a stunning focal point to this living space.
