What Is and Isn’t Included in a Remodeling Estimate

One of the benefits to being in the peer review groups that Kirk and I attend a few times per year is to soak up knowledge in the rarified air of the best companies in the nation. We share our secrets openly, and frequently open our doors for each other to come and learn in person at our places of business.
Kirk and I recently took a trip to California, driving down the coast and stopping at four companies, spending a day at each. Aside from the jokes about our romantic coastal getaway together, we had a great time seeing our friends in their natural environments, and talking shop at each location.
No surprise that for our industry everyone does their thing completely differently, but Kirk and I were soaking up so much information it felt like drinking through a fire hose. It is also no surprise that I see a couple of these companies we just met with being announced as 2014 Chrysalis Award winners, some of them multiple times.
Winning these awards not only means that the contractor performs to a high level of craftsmanship, but also that the company has staying power, which only happens when you also treat your customers exceptionally well and run a top-notch operation from the office as well.
I wanted to call out some of our award-winning friends for congratulations on their recent award(s). The awards are well-deserved and we look forward to congratulating them in person in the near future! • Custom Design & Construction, El Segundo, CA • Alure Home Improvements, East Meadow, NY • Jackson Design & Remodeling, San Diego, CA • Normandy Remodeling, Hinsdale, IL • Marrokal Design & Remodeling, San Diego, CA • Synergy Builders, West Chicago, IL
