With each new year comes new resolutions, ideas, and trends. The same goes for decades; especially as we find ourselves kicking off a new one in 2020!

As a design+build firm, we can often recognize developing trends in both remodeling projects and custom homes. This can be anything from style and trim, to bathrooms, or even paint colors. Interestingly enough, however, color is the one trend that is often hard to pinpoint. With so many color options available, how can you identify a single color that links us all together? We left this question and more to the experts at Benjamin Moore!

We were thrilled to host Beth Maguire, a Benjamin Moore Architectural and Design Representative, to discuss the concepts and inspiration behind color trends throughout the decades and where we are headed for 2020. According to her presentation, the colors we choose for our homes correlate with the various trends, moods, and influences we experience in everyday life. This may seem obvious, but colors reflect our personalities and what’s a home without a little personality?

“A fresh palette. A revitalized spirit. A soft, rosy hue blooming with potential. Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year, First Light 2102-70, is the backdrop for a bright new decade.”

The Benjamin Moore Color of the Year, First Light 2102-70, represents beauty and comfort, with a touch of creativity and authenticity. It also represents a sense of community and optimism; a blanket of security, and endless levels of self-expression. The color of the year is meant to give inspiration for what we can expect in 2020, using familiar tones and hues to connect with us on a personal level.

Will you be painting everything in your home a pale pink? Most likely not, but it sure does make you think about what colors you could use. That’s where Benjamin Moore has you covered. Much like the color of the year, Benjamin Moore has a color palette of the year that draws inspiration from the past and shapes up to predict what we can expect in 2020 — and it’s not all pink!

“The ten harmonious hues of the Color Trends 2020 palette, including First Light, deliver modern paint color pairings that combine optimism with understatement, a timeless way to lighten up.”

This seminar was one for the books. As industry pros, we were able to learn about the minds of our clients and what drives people to choose the colors that they do. Understanding color trends from years past and analyzing the factors for which these colors were popular gives us an inside look to what we can predict for the future.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend! We received nothing but positive remarks and look forward to our next seminar (coming soon)!
